WordPress · Athlete development

A training website that asks athletes to commit to the work.

For a youth basketball programme, the real challenge was never just showing training sessions. It was showing families the philosophy, commitment and clear path behind serious athlete development.

The story behind the build

The website had to sell the standard before it sold a training session.

Local Legends Training was not just offering basketball sessions. The real product was a development philosophy built around consistency, structure and implementation.

I shaped the WordPress experience so parents and athletes meet those standards before they meet the programme options. The founder story then gives the philosophy a person, and only after that does the site ask the family to choose how they want to train.

That order turns an application into a more informed decision instead of presenting training packages without context.

01 / The challenge

Before the design, there was a decision to make.

A parent can find hundreds of coaches promising better skills. What is harder to find is a clear sense of how that coach trains, what their standards are and where a young player belongs. The website needed to communicate the difference before someone committed their time.

02 / The thinking

What the website needed to say.

Local Legends is built around a demanding but simple belief: progress comes from consistency, structure and implementation. Instead of treating those ideas as another paragraph of marketing copy, the homepage turns them into the central story. Visitors encounter the three pillars before they are asked to choose a programme.

The founder’s story follows naturally. Training is personal, and parents need to know whose approach they are buying into. A dedicated founder section connects the programme’s standards to the experience behind them, with photography, a clear mission and space for the coach’s own voice.

Only after that context does the design introduce the choice: an Elite Membership for a regular training routine or Flexible Sessions for families looking for a different commitment level. That order matters. It puts meaning before pricing and turns an application into a more informed decision.

03 / The design decisions

Every section has a reason to be there.

Clearer programme fit before an application.

01

Lead with a standard, not a sales pitch.

The first impression is bold and focused. The headline says who the programme is for, then the blue application button gives motivated visitors somewhere to go.

02

Make the method easy to remember.

Consistency, Structure and Implementation are treated as three visible pillars, not buried in a long list of services.

03

Give parents reasons to trust the process.

The founder story, programme choices and parent/athlete feedback appear before the final application call to action.

04

End with one decisive next step.

A full-width application section makes it clear what committed athletes and families should do next.

The training philosophy

Three ideas. One clear standard.

Rather than present a long list of drills, the website gives families three easy ideas to remember. They explain how the programme approaches real development.

04 / The customer journey

A clear path from first impression to action.

01

The promise

Developing the next generation of local legends.

02

The philosophy

A clear explanation of the three training pillars.

03

The person

A founder story that makes the coaching approach tangible.

04

The commitment

Two programme routes followed by an application.

The finished experience

The finished WordPress experience presents one consistent message from the hero to the final application: serious development takes a serious commitment. The layout helps parents and athletes understand the method, see the programme options and decide whether to apply.

A purposeful customer journey is a foundation for stronger enquiries and conversions. Individual performance figures are not presented for this project.
